  Font Basics - Part 3D
Font Utilities (Continued)

Font Editors (available for both Mac® and PC):

To convert from TrueType® to Type 1 and vise-versa
To Port files across platforms
To edit font glyphs (customize fonts)

The best font editing and creation tools are available from FontLab.

Tip: If you work in a mixed platform then buy the Mac versions of TransType, FontLab or Fontographer for porting fonts across platforms. All newer Macs (the PowerPC™) will read and write both Mac and PC fonts without any additional steps. You can send the PC fonts to a PC's drive over a network or save them to a PC-formatted disk.
